Shunned and persecuted by much of the Empire, psykers are exceptional individuals capable of destroying their enemies with devastating psychic attacks. existsWarhammer40K: Darktide, Psykers play a lot like a standard glass cannon. Their power can be used to great effect on the battlefield, but they are more vulnerable than other classes.
Psykinetic is the original Psyker subclass with some interesting powers and a variety of unique melee and rangearmed. While you may be tempted to use your powers indiscriminately, there are downsides to doing so, so you must choose your targets carefully when playing Psyker.
#9 Don't be afraid of Psychologists
Psychiatry is one of the most interesting professions in the worldWarhammer 40K: Darktide, but they can feel a little bland at first. Although you get instant access to some powerful abilities, you can't use them as much as you want. At the same time, psykers are pretty fragile, so you generally won't be in melee for long, making firearms your primary way of dealing damage.
When you signed up as a space mage, you probably didn't expect to spend most of your time shooting guns. The good news is that the more you play, the more fun Psyker becomes. Once you acquire Force Staves and skills that allow you to use your powers more often, you'll find that the Psyker is everything it says it is - and more. It only takes a moment to get there.
#8 look up
The Psyker's main ability is called Brain Burst and it does exactly what it says on the tin. You can use it to lock onto targets and kill them instantly - but be aware that Brain Burst takes a few seconds to recharge, so don't try to use it when you're already surrounded. Instead, you'll usually want to take advantage of Brain Burst's long range and use it before enemies spot you.
Brain Burst is very powerful against elite enemies as it can kill multiple enemies at once and deal huge damage to the rest. Bosses are the other main focus of this ability, though you'll need to use a combination of Brain Burst and normal weapons when fighting these bosses. Using Brain Burst on a target will stun them when the fuel gauge is halved, but this will only work against weaker enemies. Stronger enemies will take damage but not be stunned beforehand.

#7 Professional brain explosion
There are a few tricks you can use to blow your brain more skillfully. First, it's worth noting that this ability won't interrupt when your target is in your line of sight. You just have to look at your target long enough to lock onto it, and then you can still use the ability even from cover.
This is very handy when trying to kill snipers, including those pesky snipers who like to hide in the dark. Brain Burst has soft auto-aim, so as long as you place your cursor roughly around the area the sniper is shooting at, you should be able to lock onto the target even if it's completely dark.
#6 Preemptive charging
Another tip to keep in mind is that you don't really need a target to start charging. If you are new to Warhammer 40K: Darktide, you may find it useless. After all, the speed is slow when charging and the weapon is unusable, so what's the point? Well, to put it simply, precharging Brain Burst allows you to quickly react to threats that are everywhere.
Proactive Charges are especially useful against enemies like Mutants, Pox Dogs, and Pox Outbursts. Instead of trying to dodge their charge, which is often very difficult, you can simply hit them with a precharged Brain Burst. Because of the above drawbacks, you don't want to keep your abilities charged all the time, so this is one of those occasional tricks that comes in handy every now and then.
#5 Warp strength
You're probably sick of hearing Brain Burst tips and tricks by now, but the truth is that much of a psyker's playstyle revolves around this ability. It never hurts to know everything, including that every Brain Burst will give you a damage passive called Warp Charge. This buff temporarily increases your damage by 3%, stacks up to 4 times for a total of 12% additional damage. Not too shabby.
Combine Warp Charges with Psykinetic Rage, an AoE ability that knocks enemies down and confuses them. When you use Psykinetic Rage, you lose all saved charges, but you also mitigate some risks in the process. Psykinetic Rage is a great ability that gives you some breathing room when surrounded by hordes of enemies. While it doesn't actually do any damage, it can still be used offensively to some degree. For example, you can use it to knock down a powerful enemy and start charging Brain Burst while your enemy is still stationary. With good timing, you can also use it to throw smaller enemies off ledges or into fire.

#4 Eternal danger
Peril is a mechanic designed to counter Brain Burst and prevent Psykers from becoming too powerful. Each time you use Brain Burst, the danger level increases, causing you to explode if the meter reaches 100%. You won't die from danger, but you'll get hit and you'll have to rely on your allies to get you back on your feet. Basically, Psykers act like Bright Wizards in Vermintide 2 in this regard.
There are a few things you can do to prevent the risk from reaching dangerous levels. As mentioned, you can calm it down with Psykinetic Rage, which reduces its current threat level by 50%. You can also mute it manually by holding down the "R" key (by default), which will eventually reduce the risk to 0, but this process will take a few seconds. Then you have the passive Battle Meditation, which gives you a 10% chance to pacify a small hazard with each kill. Even with all these tools, you may struggle to keep your risk down early on, but like anything else, things get easier as you level up.
#3 Power Staff is key
You don't feel like a proper Psyker until you get your first Force Staff, which happens around level 13. Unless you want some kind of exotic build, Force Staves will probably be your build of choice, as they include ranged damage. Force Staves are unique in that they require no ammo, but increase your danger every time you use their basic ranged attack. Fortunately, they also have a special attack that deals AoE damage and pacifies danger, so it all balances out.
It's worth noting that there are many different Force Staves to choose from. They all work the same, but each has a different special attack. Some of them cause explosions, some engulf enemies in flames, and some fire lightning bolts to stun and damage enemies. Depending on the situation, some will work better than others, so feel free to experiment and see which one you like best.
#2 Use your magic sword
In addition to Force Staves, Psykers also have exclusive access to another weapon called the Force Sword. At first glance, it's easy to see these weapons as just another variant of the sword with a more advanced look. However, it is much more than that. The Force Sword is able to channel the Warp and act as a conduit for a psyker's power. In this regard, they are somewhat similar to the Force Staff, but their abilities are different.
To get the most out of your Force Sword, you must first charge it with the same button you use to perform other special actions. Doing so imbues the sword with warp energy and deals bonus damage on your next attack. This attack is especially powerful against armored enemies. Force Swords can also be used as Psykinetic Wrath to push and dislodge enemies. This special move is much weaker as it only affects one target, but you can use it more often.
#1 Living on the edge
Having to constantly manage your risk level is a little annoying, especially at first, but you can abuse your powers without exploding. The trick is to try to constantly hover just below 100% and save your class abilities for emergencies.
Taking 100% risk will not make you rich instantly. Instead, there's an animation that takes a few seconds to complete and forces you to watch as you lose control of your power. There's not much you can do while the animation is playing, but luckily you're not completely helpless - you can still use your class abilities to mitigate any excessive risks, allowing you to carry on as if nothing happened.
