It's easy to create a Klaviyo message board to collect emails and text messages at the top of your store website registration. But you need the right tools for the job.
Most bulletin boards (or "sticky bars") included in your Shopify theme will be basic. Usually you can only customize the colors, copy and links for your campaign.
With Shopify only, you can't add Klaviyo forms to build lists. For this you need a tool with form functionality integrated with Shopify and Klaviyo.

Step 1: Choose a template
Start by choosing a form-based design template for your bulletin board. See ConvertFlowstemplate libraryChoose one to get started.
For this guide, we're using a two-step email and an SMS sticker:
Select your template and click Use this template. After this,Create a free ConvertFlow account(theSign inIf you already have one) start editing.
Step 2: Customize the bulletin board design
You will now enter ConvertFlow's drag-and-drop builder, where you can customize your Klaviyo bulletin board:
Before editing the content, we recommend that you define the aesthetic design of the template first.
This means you need to define the colors, logo, font, style, etc. of your campaign to match your brand.
You can set the aesthetic to:
- faglevel: Set a consistent style for your campaign when adding new elements
- Item Level:Override theme settings and customize individual element styles
Start by setting up your theme layer styles so that any new elements in the sticky bar activity follow the same design.
If you later want specific elements to be different, edit them separately.
topic processing, click on the Themes tab in the sidebar of the builder. Here you can customize the style for each type of element - such as headings, paragraph text, buttons, forms, etc.:
For this example, let's update the button color to match our branding:
You'll notice that the colors of the buttons in the second and third step of the activity have also been updated since we set the styles at the theme level.
Continue like this until your theme matches your brand.
Step 3: Set the notification bar to the top or bottom
In the Containers section of the Theme tab, you can choose whether you want your notification bar to appear at the top or bottom of the screen:
Step 4: Select enable bulletin board
Now choose when you want to enable the bulletin board by going to the Options tab in the build panel:
Here you can select the trigger type:
- exit intent:Appears when a visitor expresses intent to leave
- roll point:Appears when website visitors scroll a certain percentage of the page
- Time delay:Appears after the specified number of seconds
- Only when you click:Appears only when the button is pressed
- Message on the spot:Appears when a shopper taps the popup in the corner of the screen
- Click the floating button twice:Display a floating button in the corner of your website that, when clicked, triggers the display of the message board
- Add to cart (Shopify):Appears after adding a product to the shopping cart
You can also choose whether to allow users to close the Klaviyo message board.
If you don't want clients to be able to close the sticky bar, slide "Show close icon" to the off position (left side) in the container settings on the Theme tab to remove the close icon.
Note that if you keep the close icon and set the trigger suppression to "Always trigger", the bulletin board will reappear when that buyer closes the activity. Therefore, it is best to remove the close icon to avoid confusing website visitors.
If you want customers to be able to close the sticky, you can adjust the trigger damping settings for each channel type except Click Only.
For example, you can set an offer to hide for a few days after a buyer closes the offer and it will be silent until the given time has passed.
expert advice: If you double-click the floating button, you can also set it to fire after your sticky bar closes, so visitors can access your offer after it closes.
Step 5: Update the bulletin board content
You must update your Klaviyo landline with a relevant offer or call to action (CTA) and any relevant images of your product or brand to encourage signups.
So, to update the content of the sticker bar, just select the item you want to change. The sidebar shows options for updating the copy, layout, and any actions (we'll cover actions in the next steps):
You can add buttons, images, products and other elements by clicking on the "+" symbol that appears when you hover over the various sections.
noting: If you are adding a product, connect your Shopify store in step 8 so you can easilypresent your products.
Step 6: Connect Klaviyo to ConvertFlow
After defining the contents of the landline, you can connect your Klaviyo account so that the form data is transferred to your subscriber database.
To do this, select Shape from the builder in the first step. Click the Manage Actions button that appears in the sidebar:
From here, select the "Manage Integrations" button. Find Klaviyo from the integration menu and click Connect:
Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm the integration with ConvertFlow.
Step 7: Connect the form input to Klaviyo
Now that you've connected Klaviyo to ConvertFlow, you can set up automations to push form submissions to your Klaviyo account.
After logging in, return to the "Administrative Actions" window. From here, click Add Automation:
In our example, we want to add form submission to the newsletter list in Klaviyo. So let's select "Klaviyo - Add to List" as the automation type and then select the "Newsletter" list from the drop down menu.
Click Create Automation, and then click Run.
New subscribers who fill out the form on the Klaviyo sticky bar will now be added to this list 🙌🏽
You can repeat this by using the SMS form in the second step of the Notice Board and selecting the appropriate list for SMS subscribers.
Step 8: Connect your online store to ConvertFlow
In order for Klaviyo's bulletin board to work on your website, you must be logged in to Shopify.
When you connect your Shopify store to ConvertFlow, you'll be able to do more with activities like retrieving product and customer information.
From your website's ConvertFlow dashboard, go to Settings and then to Integrations in the left navigation panel. Find Shopify in the menu and click Connect:
Enter the URL "myshopify.com" for your Shopify store and click "Connect Integration +":
Click Install App to give ConvertFlow access to your Shopify store.
Once you're signed in, the ConvertFlow script will be automatically installed on your Shopify store 🎉
Step 9: Update the button action
The last step of the form template has a button that continues to guide the buyer through the online experience.
You can link the final CTA as needed, for example:
- your quiz
- a specific collection of products
- other activity
Alternatively, you can remove the button and make the last step a simple confirmation message.
Now to keep it simple, we just click the button to buy all our products. So let's update the copy of the last step:
Then, just like on the form, just click "Manage Actions" to link the button to the destination you want to send customers to next:
Let's leave the "Default Confirmation Action Type" as "Redirect to URL" and copy and paste the Collection URL into the form:
Click "Finish" to save.
Step 10: Preview the Klaviyo bulletin board
When you're done editing, save and publish your changes. Then click Preview to see the Bulletin Board in action.
Here you can preview and test your campaigns.
Testing your bulletin board here will not trigger automation (like adding a contact to your email list) or count towards your activity statistics. So feel free to test the functionality of the glue stick.
Step 11: Start the Klaviyo bulletin board
Now it's time to go live 🚀
Click Enable to control which pages and visitor segments you want your sticker lines to target.
Here you can control when and where the Sticky Bar appears on your site:
This allows you to show your campaigns on specific pages or to specific users.
After adding any targeting criteria needed to control which visitors will see this activity, toggle the checkbox to enable the bulletin board.
Your event is live 🎉 You can now grow your Klaviyo list directly from your website's bulletin board.
